Global Food Security Annual Symposium 2017 Cambridge, UK

September 6th, 2017

With the global population estimated to reach nine billion people by 2050, food security is one of this century’s greatest challenges. The Cambridge Global Food Security Initiative recognises that expertise from many disciplines is required to understand such a complex issue, and to develop effective solutions.

Their vision is to address the challenges of ensuring that all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and preferences for an active and healthy life; and to work with stakeholders across business, policy and civil society to put innovative solutions into practice.

The Initiative is a virtual network of researchers across the University, from crop scientists and engineers to specialists in policy, economics and public health. It promotes interaction and knowledge sharing, and supports collaborative research to address the issues surrounding food security at local, national and international scales.
